Job Summary

Gallatin Shalom Zone is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and motivated Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This position will be responsible for developing community relationships and managing outreach efforts that manifest into a strong volunteer base, while also creating engaging social media content. The VOC will work closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director to build and expand the capacity of GSZ programs and events through strategic communications, volunteer recruitment, marketing, and community outreach to include donors, community partners, officials, and the community at large.

Job Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, recommend placements, and execute background checks for all prospective volunteers to deliver recurring program services.
  • Conduct orientation for all volunteers to inform & educate them on GSZ volunteer procedures, all GSZ programs, and introduce them to staff.
  • Plan and execute volunteer training.
  • Manage volunteer attendance hours and records.
  • Collect information on all volunteers to be entered into the volunteer database, tracking personal information and volunteer experiences.
  • Keeps informed about current laws and trends that apply to volunteer involvement.
  • Design and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation opportunities and occasions.
  • Coordinate and supervise group volunteer engagements and/or other one-time volunteer opportunities.
  • Attend GSZ events & manage volunteer schedules for all programs and events to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Assist with logistics and coordination of fundraising events.
  • Manage, coordinate, and create innovative content for social media accounts.
  • Participate in and/or attend community events and represent GSZ to build relationships with stakeholders & further partnerships that help maximize the work and social impact of GSZ.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks during office hours.


  • Bachelor’s Degree OR High School diploma with relevant experience
  • Experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, including the ability to foster collaborative relationships with local businesses &  community organizations
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts
  • Ability to work varied work hours (days, nights, weekends)
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to learn and master CRM software
  • Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Passionate about the mission of GSZ
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be able to travel to community events
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish highly preferred
