Job Summary

he Vice President, Ministries provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Nashville Rescue Mission programs and services, ensuring that the mission and critical objectives are fulfilled. Key responsibilities include planning, management, administrative responsibilities, implementing/analyzing all the strategies that will produce an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, and goal attainment. This position serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Someone who comes with an unbeaten track record of leading organizations that make a difference in their area of influence will receive serious consideration. The ability to implement a vision through the development and execution of strategical and operational plans (including management and budget) for the short and long-term success of the Mission’s Recovery and Guest Services Ministries will be essential to this person’s success.

Experience in developing leaders, not managing them 

Someone who can recognize the capabilities of the employees on their team, coach them, nurture their careers, and manage their performance will thrive in this position. The right person will inspire confidence in team efforts by leading through their example and motivating others through his/her actions.

An adaptive communication style 

Regardless of the form of communication (listening, verbal, nonverbal, emotional awareness, written, or communicating in stressful situations ) the right person for this position has a natural ability to read an audience and intuitively knows how best to respond.

A collaborative style of leadership 

The right person will be someone who is comfortable and adept at navigating relationships both internally and externally. S/he must have a verifiable track record of productive, collaborative team leadership. The ability to maintain an open, candid, transparent management style is essential to this position.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Theology, Social Services or related disciplines – Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience in homeless or recovery services, large church or other large ministry environment
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Team player with positive and optimistic attitude.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, lead and motivate staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and demonstrate sound judgement, initiative and independent thinking.
  • Professional image with excellent written, oral and presentation skills.

RETIREMENT

Let us help you save for the future. Nashville Rescue Mission contributes 3% of an employee’s earnings after they have completed their first year of service. If you decide to contribute to the plan as well, you will enjoy a 50% match on contributions from 1% to 6%.
