Job Summary

Ella’s House is a local nonprofit serving the parenting and pregnant collegiate students of Nashville. Focusing on the pillars of housing, mental health, and community; Ella’s House seeks to provide holistic help to balance education, health, and family–through semesters and trimesters. The Resident Assistant is a live-in position that is vital to our staff and residents in supporting women as they navigate motherhood and complete their degrees.  

Job Responsibilities

The expectations of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support women in the house in their daily life, motherhood, and educational endeavors
  • Host family dinners on Tuesday nights
  • Live-in house coverage with own room and bathroom
  • Upkeep and maintenance of the house (reporting maintenance to the landlord, setting standards for cleanliness and order in the home, etc.)
  • Uphold house rules including visiting policy, curfew, chores, etc.
  • Attend meetings with Ella’s House staff once a month (subject to change—timing is flexible)
  • Pick up grocery boxes on a fixed schedule and clean supplies/toiletries as needed
  • Submit receipts and documented maintenance issues to the Executive Director
  • Act as point of contact for emergency resident needs including lost keys, late entry, etc.

Qualifications

The perfect candidate for this position will believe in the mission of Ella’s House, be responsible and tidy, have excellent communication skills, be comfortable around babies/childbirth/etc., and be able to interact and live with a variety of women.

Benefits

Compensation: This position will receive free rent and utilities along with a monthly stipend commensurate with their experience.

Vacation: The Resident Director will be entitled to 2 weeks’ vacation (approved ahead of time with the Executive Director) as well as Federal U.S. holidays.

Please note, that while this is a live-in position, we understand the applicant will most likely have job/school requirements and are willing to work around these.
