Job Summary
This position presents various performances with Wishing Chair Productions Puppet Truck; paid for by the Nashville Public Library Foundation. This outreach program is designed to increase appreciation of books, enjoyment of reading, and the arts in the community for all ages. It will also be required to perform related duties for the program as well.
Job Responsibilities
- Participates in the production of puppet and marionette shows.
- May assist in the writing or adaptation of scripts
- Designs and repairs scenery as needed
- Performs as a puppeteer for shows with the Puppet Truck and Wishing Chair Productions
- Assists in the designing and creation of new puppet productions
- Assists in puppet-making workshops or demonstrations in the community
- The operation of a 15-foot box truck
- Lifting/ pulling/ pushing of up to 100 pounds unfortunately
- Proven ability to relate well with children, families, and seniors
- May assist in training new employees in the use of puppets
- Working 32 hours a week depending on the schedule
- Effective knowledge and communication skills with being a liaison between departments
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would prepare said individual to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Typically, two years of higher education from an accredited college, or university, or a certificate from a performing arts institution as well as a minimum of two years in performing arts.
A valid driver’s license is required
