St. Luke’s Community House in West Nashville is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated Program Floater to join our dedicated staff. This is a unique opportunity to work with all facets of St. Luke’s programs and services.

Position Summary

 The Program Floater is a full-time position that supports all St. Luke’s programs, specifically by serving in our feeding programs and licensed preschool. Initiates and maintains frequent and close working relationships with program managers, St. Luke’s team members, and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

Program Support

  • Community Support Services (60%)
    • Works in Food Bank daily to assist volunteers and clients.
    • Drives Mobile Meals routes when volunteers call out or are unavailable.
    • Assists with execution of St. Luke’s Christmas Toy Store.
    • Acts as a greeter for the Mobile Meals, Food Bank, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs.
    • Participates and helps with Family Empowerment Program (FEP) events.
    • Completes data entry into Salesforce database as needed.
    • Helps to cover the Front Desk as needed.

 

  • Preschool (40%)
    • Fills in for classrooms when a teacher is out on PTO (PAID TIME OFF).
    • Cover teacher breaks and provide classroom support as needed.
    • Responsible for maintaining best practices as outlined by St. Luke’s Child Development Center, TN Department of Human Services (TNDHS) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).
    • Follows all policies and procedures outlined in St. Luke’s Employee Handbook and Job Description, and TNDHS.
    • Supports the program’s philosophy regarding how children learn through play, positive discipline, making students, families, and co-workers feel safe and loved.

General Responsibilities

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Upholds the confidentiality and professionalism expected of all staff and lives the values of the organization: Community, Dignity, Respect, Integrity, Sustainability.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of St. Luke’s Community House.
  • Represents St. Luke’s in a consistent, persuasive, and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with disenfranchised populations and /or in low-income communities.

Skill Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Engaging, enthusiastic and energetic demeanor.
  • Strong ability to effectively interface with the public.
  • Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills and the ability to speak effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative. Strong ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Some knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when necessary.
  • Adaptability to changing demands, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors.
  • Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
  • Ability to move 25 pounds.

Other Requirements

Position requires the incumbent to have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and a clear driving record for the last three years. In addition, the candidate must be able to pass a drug test and have a clear background check.
