Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized Office Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to the Administrator and other church staff. The successful applicant will have a positive and patient spirit, proficient computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow. 20 hours a week with flexible scheduling.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains a pleasant and friendly disposition while greeting and directing visitors and vendors, providing information as needed and exercising patience with the public and staff
  • Uses a computer and a variety of applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Google Drive, various websites and databases (ex. MailChimp, Church 360, Google Suite, Squarespace), predefined templates and form letters
  • Creates and edits bulletin weekly and copies, collates and prepares for Sunday distribution
  • Provides clerical assistance and administrative support to Administrator
  • Filing, typing, copying, scanning as requested by other staff members, and/or congregational members and volunteers
  • Helps coordinate volunteers and send weekly volunteer emails
  • Purchases office supplies in accordance with guidelines
  • Answers incoming calls, providing information as requested and/or referring callers to appropriate staff, maintains voicemail
  • Responds to calls and walk-in requests regarding assistance
  • Opens and processes incoming mail
  • Attends staff meetings
  • Maintains files and records

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or – 3 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); Google Drive, Updating calendars, along with other various database programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use office equipment including computer, copier, fax machine, folding machine
  • Supportive of the mission of Second Church and ability to convey its importance
  • Highly organized multi tasker with ability to prioritize work
  • Willingness to learn and to grow
