Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized Office Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to the Administrator and other church staff. The successful applicant will have a positive and patient spirit, proficient computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow. 20 hours a week with flexible scheduling.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains a pleasant and friendly disposition while greeting and directing visitors and vendors, providing information as needed and exercising patience with the public and staff
- Uses a computer and a variety of applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Google Drive, various websites and databases (ex. MailChimp, Church 360, Google Suite, Squarespace), predefined templates and form letters
- Creates and edits bulletin weekly and copies, collates and prepares for Sunday distribution
- Provides clerical assistance and administrative support to Administrator
- Filing, typing, copying, scanning as requested by other staff members, and/or congregational members and volunteers
- Helps coordinate volunteers and send weekly volunteer emails
- Purchases office supplies in accordance with guidelines
- Answers incoming calls, providing information as requested and/or referring callers to appropriate staff, maintains voicemail
- Responds to calls and walk-in requests regarding assistance
- Opens and processes incoming mail
- Attends staff meetings
- Maintains files and records
Qualifications
- High School diploma or – 3 years relevant experience.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); Google Drive, Updating calendars, along with other various database programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use office equipment including computer, copier, fax machine, folding machine
- Supportive of the mission of Second Church and ability to convey its importance
- Highly organized multi tasker with ability to prioritize work
- Willingness to learn and to grow
