Job Summary

Membership specialists play a critical role in supporting all aspects of the recruiting and onboarding process of girls and adult volunteers. A key member of the membership team that provides a high level of service to their regional members throughout the year and develops and maintains strong outreach and fundraising programs. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists Regional Executive in providing support for girl and adult membership recruitment and retention in an assigned geographic area.
  • Cultivates membership opportunities in new areas.
  • Contact schools to set up girl talks and family interest nights.
  • Organizes materials for recruitment and assists in delivery to schools.
  • Identifies and recruits youth and adult members/volunteers.
  • Visits schools in geographic areas to perform girl talks and family interest nights.
  • Assists in follow-up with families who attend family interest nights.
  • Assists in follow-up with potential volunteers to complete necessary training.
  • Works closely with the Regional Executive to develop and implement a membership plan that ensures diverse membership and council goals are met.
  • Works under the oversight of the Regional Executive to manage aspects of membership outreach programs.
  • Helps plan, organize, and execute annual regional fundraising events and troop and/or family fundraising initiatives.
  • Performs work duties and responsibilities with an attitude that reflects the council’s commitment to quality and serving the needs of the organization’s members.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required:

  • Computer and Microsoft Office software proficiency is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Possess a professional attitude and strong work ethic with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including some evening and weekend work and be willing to travel within an assigned territory.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check including a motor vehicle report.
  • Strong belief in the mission of Girl Scouts and the ability to convey its importance to the public.
  • Maintains effective teamwork through training, great communication, and support.
  • Organized, independent thinker and self-starter.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Current valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation. 

Physical Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sit, stand, or drive for prolonged periods of time. The employee may lift, carry, or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
