Job Summary

TFC’s Manager, Grants & Contracts serves as a part of the fundraising team working to identify new funding sources, maintain current funding partnerships, and collaborate with the Development Team to ensure financial goals are met annually.

As a member of the TFC team, staff help TFC pursue our vision of resilient communities where all children thrive and our mission of breaking multigenerational cycles of childhood trauma through a culture that embraces diversity (racial, cultural, religious, gender identification, sexual orientation). This position requires significant flexibility with a high skill level of time management to coordinate and prioritize shifting responsibilities and deadlines. The right candidate will welcome creative problem-solving and an ability to research local, state, and nationwide funding opportunities

Job Responsibilities

  • acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, its programs, and program metrics/outcomes for the purpose of applying for funding and reporting on funding outcomes
  • generate revenue through corporate relationships and funding submissions
  • manage the grant process from beginning to end inclusive of researching grant opportunities, collaborating with colleagues to create compelling proposals, writing proposals, submitting proposals in a timely manner, and following up with funders as needed
  • provide an ongoing detailed schedule for grants and final reports during monthly meetings with the supervisor and CEO
  • develop rapport and connect with grant-making organizations during the review of a submitted grant application in order to be able to supply additional supportive material as needed, as well as throughout the year (at least two touchpoints each year)
  • maintain foundation and corporate donor files in the TFC Shared Folder/Development/Grants folders

Qualifications

Required Capabilities

  • innovative leader, self-initiator, fast learner, and team player
  • highly developed interpersonal skills, an affinity for networking, and a high level of confidence
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to effectively lead in writing or contributing to grant proposals, donor research, and marketing efforts
  • understanding of foundation, corporate, and/or donor research
  • proficiency in MS Office Suite; utilization of or ability to learn SalesForce
  • confidence and competence in learning and using existing and new technologies
  • ability to effectively interact, communicate, and collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • excellent organizational and project management skills
  • capable of meeting challenging deadlines while “herding cats”
  • 4+ years of grant writing/management experience
  • must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • openness to a work culture that is very fast-paced and growing rapidly across Middle TN

This is a full-time exempt position that requires evening and weekend commitments throughout the year.  Local travel is required, and occasional national travel may be expected. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and organizational budget. 

Minimum Education:  Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of four years experience with grant writing, grant reporting, and government contract management.

Preferred:

  • nonprofit experience preferred but not required
  • bilingual or conversational Spanish a bonus
