Job Summary

High Hopes Development Center equips children, youth, and their families for success through education, therapeutic services, and loving support. High Hopes is hiring for lead teacher openings. The lead teacher, with the support of a co-teacher, in the preschool setting, is responsible for the ongoing safety, education, and social-emotional well-being of a group of students.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide for and ensure child safety, care, and well-being in the classroom environment.
  • Following provided curriculum, facilitate age-appropriate, standards-based academic and social-emotional lessons for children with and without special needs in an inclusive learning environment.
  • Create weekly lesson plans for classroom instruction.
  • Model compassion, empathy, care, and respect for each child through actions and words.
  • Provide appropriate physical care for children. Depending on the age and need, this may include diapering, feeding, and general physical care.
  • Communicate effectively with other adults serving students within the educational environment, including other teachers, co-teachers, therapists, parents, and administrators.
  • Using an online communication app, provide ongoing detailed information about each child’s day with parents.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a lead teacher in a preschool environment is required.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Flexible
  • Strong adult communication skills
  • Ability to communicate well with children, families, and peers
  • Understanding and ability to employ classroom instructional methods
  • Classroom management and effective transitioning of children from one activity to another
