Position Summary

This position will manage a portfolio of foundation and corporate grants at YWCA, working closely with the Director of Grants to achieve grant revenue goals and ensure awarded grants are implemented according to budget and program plans. This position will write new and renewal applications, oversee grant award acknowledgments, and write interim & final grant reports. This is a hybrid work position with the flexibility to determine a combination of in-office and remote work hours that suit the right candidate’s needs.

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization: Initiates and maintains frequent contact and close relationships with program leaders, the development, data, and finance teams, and the Director of Grants.

Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains professional working relationships with the following: potential and existing private foundation and corporate funders, donors, government funding contacts, and other stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of grant funders to ensure a diverse and growing revenue stream.
  • Manage all aspects of the grant application process, including researching, writing/editing, compiling supporting documents, submitting, and tracking grant proposals.  Ensure timely submission of compelling and well-written proposals.
  • Conduct grant prospect research to identify new potential sources of funding.
  • Initiate, maintain, and cultivate communication with prospects and funders.
  • Attend preliminary and informational meetings relevant to grant development, submission, and/or ongoing reporting, as appropriate
  • Record and track all grant activity in the development database (Raiser’s Edge) including grant submissions, awards, reports, funder touchpoints, and other stewardship efforts – all necessary for effective grants management.
  • Develop and maintain a personal workflow chart/timetable for the organization of tasks.
  • Update and maintain the Grants Calendar.
  • Assist with making updates to YWCA’s Body of Knowledge shared file.
  • Provide stewardship to funders, collaborating with the leadership team to ensure appropriate recognition of funders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and/or attend funder visits and tours of YW’s campuses.
  • Update the agency’s GivingMatters and GuideStar profiles with current, complete information in tandem with the Director of Grants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years minimum experience in nonprofit program development and fundraising (including grant writing/grant management). The education requirement may be substituted by four additional years of relevant work experience.  Must have a proven track record of successfully obtaining grants or completing other comprehensive writing projects.     

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at any of the organization’s work locations.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Other Requirements
Candidate must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills and a collaborative work style. The position requires the incumbent to have a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record for the last three years.

  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas quickly and in an accessible fashion, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
