Job Summary
The New Beginnings Center (TNBC) is a Nashville-based non-profit whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of women through exercise, nutrition education, and lifestyle coaching. We serve all women regardless of age, income, or background as we target the obesity epidemic in Nashville and strive to reduce the risk of preventable diseases related to obesity.
The New Beginnings Center’s coach is responsible for coaching at the main center or satellite locations in a professional and caring manner. Level 1 and Satellite classes meet twice per week for one-hour sessions over 12 weeks. Coaching responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Job Responsibilities
Level 1 and Satellite Coaches:
- Set up equipment before class and stay after for cleaning and breakdown.
- Implement appropriate workout programs and coach appropriate techniques.
- Teach the New Beginnings nutrition and life coaching curriculum. Training and all materials are provided by TNBC.
- Communicate with clients by email, text, or phone as appropriate.
- Satellite coaches will actively recruit clients for the satellite locations utilizing marketing materials provided by TNBC.
- At the end of each month, coaches will submit a data update on all women currently exercising at the main center or satellite locations. The update includes clients currently in Level 1 of the program, clients enrolled at satellite locations, and follow-up data on those who have graduated from the New Beginnings program. Data reporting includes body weight, body composition change, medication dosages decreased or eliminated, and other milestones of note.
Rewards and Bonus Class Coaches:
- Set out equipment before class and stay after for cleaning and breakdown.
- Implement appropriate workout programs and coach appropriate techniques.
- Gather client names and email addresses upon arrival.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Qualified applicants will hold a current Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification (NSCA, ACSM, or NASM)
- 1 year or more experience preferred
- Group training experience a plus; ability to connect with a wide range of personalities
- Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working with clients who are obese and/or have mobility issues is a plus
Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- The employee is required to stand, walk, and balance regularly
