Job Summary

The Executive Director for Tennessee Presenters Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, reports to the Board of Directors. Together they lead the organization in setting goals and establishing objectives; as well as shaping and articulating the overall strategic plan for the organization. The position provides overall leadership, direction, and guidance of Tennessee Presenters’ activities. In addition to ensuring the day-to-day success of the operations, the Executive Director will work strategically to position Tennessee Presenters Corporation for future growth, sustainability, and relevance. 

Job Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

Leadership:

  • Oversees efforts to serve a network of members that includes presenters, artists, and agents and grows membership to ensure their needs are met
  • Provides oversight of programs such as professional development and networking opportunities.
  • Acts as spokesperson for the organization on behalf of the Board of Directors and our membership, representing Tennessee Presenters locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Develops and implements operational plans, policies, and goals that further the strategic objectives
  • Lead and organize quarterly member meetings, including locating sites for at least one in-person gathering of the membership annually.
  • Plan and lead Membership-wide quarterly meetings, and the biennial gathering ArtsConversation, a 2–3-day conference that includes panel discussions, artist showcases, and networking events
  • Represent Tennessee Presenters at appropriate events and conferences
  • Develop strategic plans for membership growth

Financial:

  • Working with the Treasurer preparing the annual budget and maintaining financial records, reporting to the Board monthly, and providing quarterly reports at member meetings.
  • Providing any financial reports as requested by the Treasurer, available at all applicable meetings
  • Maintains and deepens relationships with key funders, including the Tennessee Arts Commission and South Arts, and executes grant proposals and reports as needed
  • Signs all checks and obtains secondary signature when required
  • Submits appropriate annual reporting required by local, state, and federal agencies.

Management:

  • The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the Tennessee Presenters website, digital marketing and announcements, and social media accounts
  • Manage online tools for membership such as the routing spreadsheets, membership listings, the Presenters/Venues map; and the Member 365 database
  • Work with the Board of Directors and Committees to create and manage content for social media accounts, including Facebook Page and Group, and build Instagram audience
  • Keep membership records up to date and send out notices for annual membership renewals

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communicator
  • Grant writing experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 a plus, but not required.
  • 2+ years experience in a presenting organization preferred.
  • Financial budgeting experience.
  • Membership development.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Strategic thinker, team-builder, connector
  • Familiarity with strategic planning, communications, practices, financial reporting,
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Stripe, Go-Daddy, Squarespace, and/or software programs and integrations is a plus.
  • Ability to work with a diverse membership to enhance the value Tennessee Presenters Corporation is able to offer.

Practical

  • The position requires the applicant to be based in Tennessee.
  • This is a year-round part-time position that is based from home or an office.
  • The typical hourly expectation is approximately 8 hours/week.
  • Must have access to a working computer with up-to-date software to manage online tools.
  • Must have the ability to travel for meetings and conferences.

Additional Information

Benefits

This is a part-time position (estimated at 5-10 hours per week) and does not include additional benefits. Hours are very flexible per the Director’s schedule with other commitments and almost all work can be done remotely.
