Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision in alignment with Waves, Inc.’s mission and values.
  • Ability to set the tone as a culture leader, promoting existing values and leading through change. 
  • Lead the development of short and long-term goals to advance the organization’s impact.
  • Maintain team meetings and keep minutes. Direct and motivate the team toward achieving organizational goals. 

Program Management:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of our community.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations state requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement actionable fundraising strategies through corporate and individual donors, foundations, and local and state governments to secure financial resources for program sustainability and growth.
  • Provide fiscal leadership, including vehicle fleet and facility management, managing budgets effectively, and ensuring financial transparency.

Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including individuals served, their families, donors, and community partners.
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs through financial support. 
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Board Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and collaborating on strategic decisions.
  • Support the board in governance, committee work, and policy development and perform any other duties as directed by the Board of Directors. 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience and ten or more years of senior management experience, at least five of which are within non-profit organizations.
  • Strong background in public relations, marketing, and fundraising, demonstrating a track record of success in these areas.
  • A dynamic and charismatic team player who excels in being the public face of an organization, enjoying interactions with diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of leadership and management principles tailored for a non-profit organization, including billing for services, budget development, financial and operational reporting, hiring, and termination of staff.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial mindset with an innovative approach to business planning.
  • Proven success in effectively collaborating with a board of directors, showcasing the ability to navigate and foster productive relationships.
  • Proficiency in computer usage, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Google Workspace, and other appropriate electronic programs and tools. 

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) and Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) program expectations 
  • Facility and vehicle management
  • Capital campaign planning and leadership
