Job Summary

Working in collaboration with and in support of the Senior Vice President of Philanthropy the Director of Regional Operations, and agency leaders, this individual will be responsible for the creation, implementation, execution, and success of all agency-assigned events. The Event Specialist will assume the lead in coordinating the logistics of agency fundraisers, appreciation events, home dedications, and other events as they arise. The Event Specialist is also the principal organizer of all build site support for all agency build days.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, Implemented, and evaluated agency events including:
  • Home Dedication Celebrations in HFHGN’s five-county service area.
  • Houses of Hope Events in HFHGN’s five-county service are 4 are luncheons and one is a gingerbread house campaign.
  • Golf Classics in Nashville and Wilson County – includes solicitation and securing of event prizes for players.
  • Holiday Breakfast for all agency supporters
  • Construction Supervisors on Site events – three per year or more as needed
  • Coordinate staff volunteers for events and special projects.
  • Support events related to agency affinity builds including Women Build, Music
  • Row Build, Methodist Build, Unity Build, and others as they arise.
  • Supports special event needs as requested by Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee
  • Assist with other Habitat-related special events and activities as requested.
  • Assist Marketing with photographic capture of fundraising events, for social media and email distribution. Coordinate with Marketing on the production and distribution of print materials for events, including PR releases, donor/sponsor/and participant solicitations, etc.
  • Serve as Habitat representative at service fairs or events sponsored by the agency.
  • Assist in providing coverage at the building site for the Volunteer Experience Specialist as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

This position is 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, weekend availability for special events is required in this role.

Qualifications

  • A college degree is preferred; extensive work experience may be a substitute.
  • Prior work experience in marketing, development, special events, communications, and/or project planning is required; 3-5 years related experience is strongly preferred.
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required; the ability to quickly grasp the Salesforce.com customer database program will be essential.
  • Ability to bring energy, creativity, and community relations expertise that will make a substantial positive impact on Habitat’s sponsors, donors, and partners while enhancing the image and positive relationships of Habitat.
  • Must have the ability and desire to work respectfully with people of all cultures, languages, national origins, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, classes, immigration statuses, sexual orientations, gender identity and expressions, ages, mental or physical abilities, and other diversity factors. Must conduct all activities in accordance with Habitat principles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • The ability to work well independently on several projects concurrently, and possess excellent communication, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
  • Express a genuine interest in the welfare of Habitat families, volunteers, and sponsors, consistent values with Habitat’s mission and values, and a strong commitment to the fundraising goals of the agency.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • The ability to carry out computer-related skills, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to work on events across a 5-county radius.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds with assistance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
