Job Summary
The Contributor is proud to offer an opportunity to become a part of our team on a project dedicated to creating sustainable, meaningful change for the most vulnerable and unhoused members of our community. This program works in partnership with local hospitals and nonprofit organizations to facilitate critical support for individuals who are uninsured, experiencing homelessness, and frequently reliant on emergency departments for their medical needs.
In this new demonstration project, we are searching for a dedicated Driver to provide reliable transportation for our clients to and from medical appointments. This role will increase access to necessary healthcare services, furthering our goal to improve health outcomes and stability with our clients.
This non-medical transportation role is not funded by insurance dollars but is a key component of our holistic approach to healthcare access. The ideal candidate will have a compassionate approach to service, a strong sense of community, and the ability to connect with clients to ensure they feel safe and supported.
This is a part-time position that requires an onsite presence (3 days per week, 24 hours per week). This is a new position for a pilot project. Funding is currently available for up to two years, offering the chance to be a part of a transformative initiative that is set to influence policy and practice within our community and potentially at a broader level.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide safe and timely transportation for clients to and from medical and related appointments in your personal vehicle or a commercial vehicle owned or leased by The Contributor if available.
- Establish and maintain positive interactions with clients, offering support and ensuring their comfort during transport.
- Coordinate closely with healthcare providers and the project team to schedule and execute transportation services efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of transport services provided, including times, mileage, and any client feedback.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of services based on client needs and feedback.
Qualifications
Certification/Training: Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Willing to undergo first aid and CPR training, as well as any program-specific orientation and training.
Experience: Prior experience in a driving role is preferred. Familiarity with the service area and ability to navigate the city efficiently.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to interact respectfully and compassionately with clients and team members.
Knowledge: Awareness of the challenges faced by the homeless and uninsured populations. Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles to ensure they are well-maintained and safe for transportation.
Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings early evenings, and weekends to meet client appointment schedules.
Commitment: A commitment to the mission and values of The Contributor, with an interest in contributing to nonprofit initiatives and community-based services.

Benefits and Schedule
This position requires an in-person, onsite presence at least 3 days per week (24 hours per week). This part-time position pays the current living wage rate in Nashville of $21.20 per hour. Mileage will also be paid at $.67 per mile.
