FiftyForward has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Volunteer Engagement.  This is a full-time position with regular weekday hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with the ability to work flexible hours as needed (occasional early mornings, late evenings, and possible weekends).  This is a grant-funded position.

The Director of Volunteer Engagement oversees FiftyForward’s AmeriCorps Seniors programs and ensures the effective utilization of volunteers across FiftyForward.  This position directs plans, implements, promotes, and evaluates the RSVP program according to AmeriCorps Senior’s mission and goals and ensures that the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) is operated in an efficient and effective manner. Additionally, the Director serves as a point of entry for corporate and community groups who are interested in volunteering within the FiftyForward system and creates, updates, and evaluates the policies and procedures of the overall agency volunteer program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates AmeriCorps Seniors program staff.
  • Develops and monitors progress toward goals and objectives for the Volunteer Engagement program.
  • Ensures the accurate documentation of FGP and RSVP volunteer records required by FiftyForward and funding agencies.
  • Promotes FGP, RSVP, and FiftyForward volunteer opportunities through written, verbal, and electronic communications, promotional materials, newsletters, and public presentations.
  • Participates in annual budgeting process and oversees FGP and RSVP program revenues and expenditures in accordance with the FiftyForward approved budget and AmeriCorps Seniors and other funding source

  • Prepares and assists the Grant Manager with new and continuing grant proposals and reports.
  • Participates in all mandated AmeriCorps Seniors training activities.
  • Updates FiftyForward volunteer handbook, policies, and procedures.
  • Serves as a point of entry for corporate and community groups seeking to engage with FiftyForward.
  • Coordinates with the Development Department to facilitate volunteer opportunities for corporate donors.
  • Ensures the consistent capture, storage, recognition, and reporting of volunteer engagement activity throughout FiftyForward programs and services.
  • When requested, provides volunteer management services to Centers and Programs.
  • Coordinates FiftyForward partnership with Metro Nashville POWER Youth program.
  • Serves as FiftyForward’s representative on the VOAD committee and helps to coordinate FiftyForward’s response to disasters.
  • Coordinates annual holiday gift drive.
  • Coordinates volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day meal delivery
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with challenging situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (including Outlook and Teams)
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, i.e., computer, copier, scanner, audio-visual equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of volunteer management experience; prefer experience working with older adults and volunteers.
  • A valid TN driver’s license, good motor vehicle record, and appropriate automobile insurance.
  • Promote and uphold FiftyForward’s mission of supporting, championing, and enhancing life for those 50 and older.
