Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking a Director of Operations to join our team. Are you the right person?

The Director is responsible for the administration of the work therapy element of the Life Recovery Program, overseeing all chores to be completed by Life Recovery Program participants under staff supervision. The Director is also responsible for the management of custodial services and the warehouse including gifts-in-kind and upholds the Mission Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct at all times.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains a current list of special projects to be completed.
  • Performs probationary, mid-year, and year-end employee evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Oversees Work Therapy:
  • Assigns, schedules, and oversees all the work therapy duties in the various ministries within the Mission in accordance with the work therapy policies and departmental needs of the Mission.
  • Provides timely reports and feedback concerning Program clients’ performance with respect to work therapy.
  • Supervises the Program laundry.
  • Supervises the Program clothing room.
  • Provides oversight and quality control in the custodial, warehouse, and gifts-in-kind ministries.
  • Directly supervises the gifts-in-kind ministry and Gifts-in-Kind Supervisor.
  • Directly supervises the custodial ministry and Custodial Services Coordinator.
  • Directly supervises the warehouse ministry and Warehouse Coordinator.
  • Works with other departments as needed for special projects.
  • Controls inventory of food, hygiene, and paper goods. Orders and distributes those supplies for both campuses.
  • Required to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other assignments as directed by the Vice President of Operations and Senior Leadership. 

Performance Standards:

  • Maintain accurate records. 
  • Work with the Mission staff and program participants as a minister and mentor.
  • Ensure the facilities are clean and safe inside and out.
  • Ensure the gift-in-kind donations are received, sorted, rotated, and distributed according to the policies of the Mission.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One year of maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic Human Resource concepts.
  • Working knowledge of basic managerial concepts.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills; typing/computer usage; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; thorough knowledge of Microsoft           Word and Excel.
  • Ability to qualify as a Designated Mission Vehicle Driver under NRM insurance policy: 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Have no more than two moving violations in a 3-year period or more than one accident in a 1-year period 
  • Proof of insurance on personal vehicle (current) 

Physical Factors:

  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing 40 pounds or less; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

  • Inside work environment.
  • Employees may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at times.

Retirement
