Summary

Wesley College Foundation, a faith-based 501(c)3, works to form servant leaders for the church and community in Tanzania, mainly through the support of Wesley College in Mwanza, Tanzania. Wesley College Foundation is looking to hire a half-time director of communications and foundation development who will be working with the executive director to build on the current support network, improve communications, and expand giving programs.

Role

The Director of Communications and Foundation Development will direct communication efforts to reach a growing support network as well as provide oversight and management of programs, projects, and events designed to generate support for the foundations mission in Tanzania. The Director will also work on foundation analysis to support the development and implementation of the foundation’s strategic plan.

The position is largely remote, but with occasional in person meetings with the Executive Director or Board of Directors as well as speaking engagements or one-on-one presentations with supporters. Travel can be up to 10% of time.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement the communications strategy as well as the brand and voice of the foundation to various stakeholders. This includes maintenance and updating of the website.

Support direct communication efforts with major donors and partners in such a way that builds relationships and shepherds partners in their engagement and donor journey. This includes group and one-on-one presentations.

Manage the scholarship program, including tracking scholarship students, funding progress, scholarship needs, and impact stories.

Liaison with churches to build healthy partnerships and missional relationships in support of the foundation’s mission.

Manage the grant application process for the foundation through grant research and tracking.

Coordinate volunteer and partnership efforts with Wesley College including discernment of areas where volunteers and partnerships are needed, recruitment of volunteers, and logistical support in preparation of trips.

Provide fundraising information and analysis by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for events and programs as needed.

Assist with identifying and implementing foundation and fundraising initiatives in coordination with the Executive Director and Foundation Directors.

Handle daily office responsibilities. Participate in the development and implementation of the strategic plan.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience & training

2-3 years experience in fundraising, non-profit management, marketing, or related field.

Basic knowledge of computer functions including, but not limited to, word-processing, spreadsheets, and CRM software.

Basic abilities around design of promotional materials and written campaigns as well as website maintenance.

Principals of supervising, training, and delegating work, especially with volunteers.

Good communications skills, especially written communication.

Strong task management skills, able to focus on multiple initiatives at the same time, and manage tasks for self and others.

Benefits

Position is for 20 hours a week. Salary commensurate with experience, but average expected salary is $30,000 a year.
