Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY: The CMA Foundation (CMAF) is searching for an individual with a passion for partnership development to increases the CMAF fundraising capacity. This individual will cultivate, solicit, and steward a pool of prospective donors with the capacity to make gifts in the $10K to $1M range and assess prospects on an ongoing basis.

This position is based in Nashville, TN and requires a minimum of 3 days of in-person work per week.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain oversight of a pool of Leadership prospects including the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts from $10K and above
  • Build and advance strong personal and professional relationships with industry, partners, and friends of the CMA/CMAF that result in philanthropic contributions
  • Serve as a resource, advocate, and spokesperson for CMAF
  • Work independently and creatively to match donor interests with institutional priorities
  • Supervise staff working in the program area; define responsibilities, motivate staff, and foster professional development of individual staff members
  • Develop funding proposals and negotiate and structure complex gifts
  • Prepare briefings, stewardship plans/letters and other correspondence for prospects
  • Ensure the timely capture and recording of data relating to the assigned prospect pool
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the CMAF priorities and programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues on special fundraising projects and/or events
  • Oversee and solicit giving from members of CMA/CMAF Board of Directors
  • Steward existing corporate relationships and identify strategic opportunities to maximize the impact of those relationships
  • Build partner/sponsor loyalty through effective and reliable communication with partners
  • Develop and implement strategy for corporate revenue generation
  • Lead identification, cultivation, and stewardship efforts for corporate partnerships
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records in CRM
  • Work with the Executive Director to conduct yearly review and assessment of corporate partnership program
  • Contribute to strong working relationships in Individual Giving and across the entire Foundation by interface with the community fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, and additional teams to help ensure engagement of fundraising foundations and related groups

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years major gifts fundraising experience at a nonprofit advocacy organization
  • Proven track record of cultivating and soliciting donors with six-figure capacity as a major gifts officer
  • Experience with fundraising CRM software
  • Ability to maintain donor files and securely handle confidential donor information
  • Deep understanding of the education sector
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, problem solve and manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills that will attract new supporters to invest in CMAF mission
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented work environment and manage conflict with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and work a flexible schedule
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A high degree of computer literacy
