Job Summary

The Joseph School is a 501(c)3 leadership school in Cabaret, Haiti founded in 2010. Our mission, then and now, is to partner with Haitian students, parents, teachers, and staff to develop the next generation of Haitian leaders who are empowered to transform their world. Our goal is to develop Haitian servant leaders who will be leaders in their community, churches, jobs, and country as they mature into adults.

We seek to achieve this goal through the combination of academic empowerment with practical knowledge, life skills, and the love of God.  Our unique curriculum focuses on six fundamental principles:  globally competitive academics, intentional leadership development, service to others, personal discipleship, and fluency in Creole, French, and English while all educational objectives are immersed in the rich Haitian culture and history.  We are adding one grade of 30 students each year.  Currently, we have 170 students in grades 1-8. This fall of 2023 we will enroll another class of 30 1st graders while continuing to add a grade a year as the current students mature. The school will comprise grades 1st through 9th this year. Upon full capacity, in 2027 we will have more than 350 students in grades 1-13.

We anticipate the school’s revenue will average $1.5 million a year by 2027, or $125,000 a month. We currently operate with a monthly budget of $80,000 a month.  We estimate that we have an impact on over 800 individuals in Haiti through the work of the school and students. This position as Development Director will help us accomplish these goals.

Job Responsibilities

The Development Director will lead the financial support component of the Joseph School organization. They will be willing to embrace unique, resourceful, and innovative ways to engage large and small donors, corporations, and grant institutions to develop the school’s financial health.  We expect the new Development Director to provide leadership as they encourage and empower TJS staff, faculty, and the TJS Board to understand their critical role as part of the amazing story that the Joseph School has to tell. The Development Director will not only personally lead the financial development but will seek to provide venues for the board members, staff, faculty, students, and parents to share their stories with potential donors. This will include the orchestration and management of several major event productions throughout the year.
