Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) will market, develop, and expand ThriftSmart’s community linkages and exposure through targeted engagement with shopper and donor segments. CEC activities, initially focused on Northeast Nashville, will result in strong donation streams, formalized institutional partnerships, and brand familiarity among new shoppers. Activities will be managed in a well-organized database that successfully identifies, develops, and converts leads to long-term ThriftSmart stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Donation Streams

  • Engage institutions across ThriftSmart’s target donor segments to strengthen donation streams in Northeast Nashville.
  • Educate faith partners, schools, and non-profit organizations on the GiveSmart program and its potential benefits for their local missions.
  • Develop long-term corporate partnerships that divert unsold goods to ThriftSmart for community impact, sustainability targets, or tax benefits.
  • Place donation bins with strategic community partners.
  • Secure sponsors for donation bin advertising.
  • Secure equipment and fixture donations for use in ThriftSmart sales and operations activities.
  • Coordinate with the Production team to schedule pick-up events; attend events to educate new markets on the ThriftSmart brand.
  • Coordinate with the Production team to create receiving, storage, and processing solutions for special donation opportunities.
  • Track activities and progress in CRM software.

Community Engagement

  • Attend public speaking opportunities to inform the public about ThriftSmart’s advantages as a retail store and engine for community impact.
  • Operate pop-up shops at community events to showcase quality merchandise and expose the ThriftSmart brand to potential shoppers.
  • Identify opportunities for ThriftSmart to attend or sponsor community events.
  • Support collaborative non-profit sector activities and business networks; represent ThriftSmart as an enthusiastic contributor to collaborative initiatives.
  • Lead customer and employee survey activities that provide insightful stakeholder feedback.
  • Report on activities, progress toward goals, and new initiatives.
  • Organize and execute an annual fundraising event (e.g. gala, dinner, fashion show, etc).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Education: High School diploma/some college preferred
  • Minimum Experience: 2-3 years
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The candidate should be able to physically manage the tasks and responsibilities detailed in this job description. Physical activities related to community engagement may include sitting, walking, transporting and arranging merchandise, bending, squatting, climbing, lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, and others.
  • Willingness and ability to drive a commercial transport vehicle.
