Grow your skills, serve our community, and earn money for college! The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program is looking for enthusiastic members with an interest in volunteerism and community outreach to become Community Engagement and Volunteer Leaders.
AmeriCorps members form a team of service-oriented students and other young adults who help local nonprofits enlist volunteers and supporters for their programs. You will serve at a Nashville nonprofit for an 11-month term, beginning in September 2024.
Job Responsibilities
Members spread awareness about their host site’s mission, cultivate relationships with the local community, and inspire volunteers to serve with programs that make a positive difference.
Each host site placement is unique and will engage members differently based on community needs and the organization’s goals. Use your skills and training to foster community engagement and oversee volunteers and projects. Members must be confident in taking initiative, enjoy working with people, and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Duties may include:
- recruiting and managing volunteers
- organizing and leading volunteer projects and community events
- researching and proposing opportunities for engaging the community
- developing resources for recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers
- creating materials that display the impact of your organization on a variety of audiences
- actively and enthusiastically advocating for the organization you represent
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable access to transportation for training, host-site service, and community events (Members will be reimbursed for service-related mileage.)
- U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
- National Service Criminal History Check clearance

Benefits
- Half-time members (20 hours per week):
- $11,750 total living allowance
- $3,697.50 education award, upon completion of the service contract
- Reduced half-time members (15 hours per week):
- $8,550 total living allowance
- $2,817.14 education award, upon completion of service contract
- Federal student loan forbearance and accrued interest payment
- Training and professional development in volunteer and community engagement
- Free access to the Member Assistance Program including online counseling, financial, and legal services
