Job Summary

The Communications and Outreach Coordinator is to amplify our impact by crafting compelling narratives, building meaningful relationships, and engaging diverse stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with the Development Team under the direction of the Development Director.

Job Responsibilities

Communications & Marketing:

  • Creates and implements Annual Communications Calendar
  • Manages the design of print and digital promotional and resource materials.
  • Create and update marketing materials and documents in support of fundraising, donor stewardship, and programs.
  • Produce content and design for appeal letters, impact reports, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
  • Produce all email campaigns, soliciting content from internal sources, and manage review, testing, and sending.
  • Lead digital execution – across email, website, and social media – of fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year.
  • Develop and execute social media campaigns for key days, themes, and priority upcoming content.
  • Create content for social media accounts and post regularly on each platform.
  • Ensures that all promotional and marketing materials meet the company’s brand identity strategy.
  • Creates and promotes marketing materials for NFN events including, invitations, sponsorship packets, event signage, etc.
  • Assists in managing event volunteers through pre-event meetings, set-up and break down, and during events.
  • Track, measure, and report the effectiveness of communication programs, marketing campaigns, and events.
  • Own and execute social media strategy across channels as the primary drivers of Nurses for Newborns’ messages, appeals, and website traffic – and critical platforms for building brand and issue awareness.

Outreach:

  • Creates an annual outreach plan.
  • Maintains a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
  • Schedules outreach presentations in the community while working and communicating with staff regarding coverage, if needed, and responsibilities.
  • Develops outreach materials in both digital and print mediums including informational presentations.
  • Develops and manages plans to effectively recruit, train, and utilize volunteers for all departments.
  • Assists in the coordination of special events including donor and volunteer appreciation activities.
  • Track and report performance.

General Duties/Expectations:

  • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with NFN policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or negotiated.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing preferred.
  • 1-3 years of nonprofit organizational or related experience preferred.
  • Previous work in social media and content management is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires effective verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills necessary in dealing with co-workers, visitors, donors, volunteers, corporate supporters, community agencies, board members, and NFN leadership. Requires the handling of highly confidential information with skill and discretion.
  • Requires competence in planning and organizing work and meeting deadlines.
  • Skills and accuracy in utilizing email, Word, social media, and graphic design (Canva) in a Mac environment. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects efficiently.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle conflicting priorities and deadlines appropriately.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.
