Job Summary

The Store, based in Nashville, TN, seeks an energetic, engaged, and visionary CEO. The Store operates as a year-round free grocery store allowing people to shop for their basic needs. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. They may shop for food to supplement their income during times of crisis and as they work toward self-sufficiency.

A philosophy of community empowerment means we aim to solve hunger issues in our community by developing programs to meet the needs of the community, including partnering with other organizations on issues of food security. We believe in cooperation and collaboration between organizations to better serve the community. Over time, we will work with our partner organizations to help provide cooking and nutrition classes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, attributes, and education:

  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
  • Successful development/fundraising experience is required
  • Excellent writing, communication, management, and leadership skills
  • Organizational financial management experience with a solid understanding of financials
  • Demonstrates confidence, authority, and enthusiasm
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, and compassion for those in need
  • Enjoys working with people from all walks of life and embraces diversity
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred in Business/Public Administration, Management, Social Work, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior level private or nonprofit management
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set, and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
  • Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Excellent coalition building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst differing
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills and the experience and proclivity to be an outgoing spokesperson, relationship builder, and fundraising
