Job Summary

Catholic Charities of TN is hiring 2 Case Assistants for the New American Program. The primary job duties include providing support for program staff and clients in a variety of settings related to core resettlement and employment services. Assists New Americans Program case managers and employment specialists in carrying out direct services for clients, including transportation to appointments and making in-home visits.

Job Responsibilities

  • Transports clients to appointments and meetings as needed, ensuring that proper safety equipment is utilized for all children.
  • Notifies case manager of all client concerns and needs.
  • Reviews program guidelines and updates and participates in training to ensure that services meet the expectations and requirements outlined by the funding.
  • Conforms and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Assists in setting up client apartments and securing basic provisions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and appropriately handles sensitive information in compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Actively participate in monthly supervision, bi-weekly team meetings, and monthly department training.
  • Provides interpretation services between staff and clients to facilitate service delivery.
  • Translates program documents and client-facing materials, as needed.
  • Maintains accurate client/program records regarding services provided according to Agency guidelines, using the database(s) provided by the agency and within the Agency’s time frame.
  • Actively participates in supervision sessions, periodic team meetings, and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with refugees or across cultures preferred.

Additional Skills or Requirements

  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in one or more refugee languages with a preference for Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Arabic, Burmese, Somali, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, or Kurdish. 
  • Ability to facilitate intercultural communication and create an inclusive environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and staff.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn databases, and other systems, including Salesforce.
  • Ability to work well as a team and independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to go up and down steps, load and unload car seats, and lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Ability to interact with medical professionals, government officials, and external organizations.
  • A current driver’s license is required. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation.
