Job Summary

Provides care for the medical needs and assists with activities of daily living for children enrolled in the Camp Ability program. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties within the scope of practice may be assigned.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as scheduled and appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate records for each camper including times of administration of medications.
  • Maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of campers by assisting with the daily care of campers.
  • Responds to and leads team during medical emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Observe the camper and record significant health-related conditions, reactions, concerns, or changes to the camper’s health. Notifies Camp Director, camper’s physician (if necessary), parents or guardian, and Clinical
  • Director of the camper’s condition. Records any reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Completes initial assessments for campers enrolled in the Camp Ability program.
  • Participates in department quality improvement activities.
  • Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Nursing.
  • Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • A current state LPN or RN license is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider with skills testing certification required.
