Job Responsibilities

About the Role

Each employee at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee helps extend the agency’s mission in particular ways, as outlined in the position description. The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Day to day: 

The Big Futures program associate will support the Program Development team as they create, launch, and evaluate Big Futures programming with Tennessee State University. This part-time role will provide support in the following ways:

  • Administrative assistance for the Program Development team’s Big Futures work
  • Coordination of micro-mentoring opportunities for freshman women at TSU
  • Tracking and documentation of micro-mentoring opportunities.
  • Assist in building a draft of the program plan.
  • Assist with developing MentorHub, a digital mentoring platform, for group functionality, including technical support and collecting feedback from users and staff.
  • Act as a liaison between BBBSMT and the TSU Women’s Center
  • Assist with volunteer interviews for the program.
  • Help develop an orientation for volunteers and students.
  • Help with internal coordination between the Marketing and/or Recruitment team and Program Development team.
  • Recruiting participants for 1:1 mentoring experience

  • Interpersonal Skills: Building and maintaining relationships with partners, volunteers, and students is important for success in this role.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing tasks and meeting deadlines is crucial in a part-time position with multiple responsibilities.
  • Adaptability: Being able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances in a dynamic environment.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Recruitment Skills: Ability to identify and attract suitable candidates for recruiting participants and conducting volunteer interviews.
  • Data Management: Proficiency in tracking and documenting data, as well as maintaining records.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with technical support and software tools.
  • Familiarity with and current or previous involvement with the Women’s Center at TSU.

Qualifications

  • A current Sophomore or Junior at Tennessee State University. 
  • Ambitious and goal-driven.
  • Ability to allocate 20 hours per week to this role per week.
  • Occasional availability in the evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to commute to our Nashville office occasionally for meetings or events.
