Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant Director, of Development is responsible for securing leadership annual gifts, cultivating new major gift prospects, and expanding the museum’s individual giving programs. This role builds relationships across channels to drive fundraising outcomes through data-driven moves management.

Job Responsibilities

Major Gift Development

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors and prospects capable of gifts of $10,000+
  • Develop customized engagement and solicitation strategies tailored to prospect interests.
  • Staff work for affinity groups and lead volunteer fundraisers.
  • Maintain a pipeline of 150+ viable major gift prospects with a capacity of $25K+

Annual Giving

  • Secure annual leadership gifts of $5,000+ for general operating support
  • Collaborate on comprehensive annual fund strategy including mail appeals, events, and specialized groups.
  • Analyze program metrics and recommend changes to increase retention, upgrade gifts, and acquire first-time donors.

Membership Program

  • Oversee membership program including stewardship, renewals, new acquisitions, and increased annual fund gifts from members.
  • Evaluate and enhance member benefits, services, and policies to drive engagement.

Administration

  • Maintain constituent records in the Altru database.
  • Prepare progress reports, analyses, and budget recommendations.
  • Participate in community groups to increase the museum’s visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of frontline fundraising experience with proven major gift results
  • Strong relationship-building and communication/presentation abilities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and ethical.
