Job Summary
Adult Literacy @ NPL seeks a self-motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate with staff to plan and execute the Middle Tennessee Adult Education Spring Summit. This daylong event will take place at Nashville Public Library’s Main Library on May 12, 2023. This is a short-term, part-time contract position with Adult Literacy @ NPL. The contract term is February – May 19, 2023. Compensation is $40/hr for an expected 10-20 hr/week.
A successful applicant must have strong event planning skills and project management skills. Experience working with the adult education community is preferred. Regular progress meetings are required and the candidate must be available on 05/11 and 05/12 to assist with event set-up and execution. Performs related duties as required to implement the project. Position reports to Adult Literacy Program Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
Event planning
- Coordinate, organize and manage the event planning, in consultation with program staff.
- Contact and confirm speakers
- Plan engagement activities
- Consult on event promotion
Event management
- Identify materials needed for the event
- Create run-of-show for program staff
- Assist with the set up of event space on 5/11/23
- Provide day-of event production
- May facilitate event activities
- Assist with breakdown of event space on 5/12/23
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Strong communication skills
- Strong time-management skills
- Experience planning and executing in-person events
Preferred
- Self-motivated
- Creative, out-of-the-box thinking.
- Experience working with the adult education community
- Knowledge of adult education philosophies and practices

Benefits
This is a temporary contract position without benefits. Aside from regular progress meetings and event production May 11 – 12, the contractor will have the flexibility to determine their own work schedule.
