Job Summary
This is a remote work-from-home position – and needs to live in the Nashville, TN area.
The Accounting Specialist role acts as primary support to the Director of Business Operations in the financial unit of The Upper Room. Will be responsible for capturing raw data and other financial quantitative data to interpret it into meaningful strategic information for the organization.
Job Responsibilities
This role compiles, integrates, and reconciles the general ledger, accounts payable, deposits, payments, and other financial data from multiple sources inside and outside of the organization. Handles the sales tax and other financial legal responsibilities for the organization, also keeping the organization compliant and up to date on the latest local, state, and federal laws across the country. Creates, compiles, and interprets sales reports, financial reports, general ledger transfers, and other analysis reports.
Responsible for monitoring and evaluating all incoming and outgoing financial activity; deposits, payables, cost data, budget reports, transfers, inventory, and work in progress.Will also ensure both front-end and back-end data integrity, watch for variant activity, and to ensure both internal and external audit compliance.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. CPA or equivalent preferred. Four plus years of experience in an accounting environment with demonstrated work on system integrations as well as cost accounting and/or financial analysis.
Publishing, church marketplaces, and non-profit management experience a plus.
