Oasis Center was founded in 1969, a group of young lawyers came together to establish the “Rap House,” a simple community center for runaway teens and youth struggling with addictions. Fifty years later, the “Rap House” has evolved into Oasis Center, where nearly 4,000 youth and families turn for help and direct support every year. Oasis Center provides a wide range of opportunities that reflect the diverse needs of youth and their families, from crisis intervention to youth leadership and community engagement to college and career access. Position: Accounting Manager

Summary: The Accounting Manager helps manage and actively participates in the accounting cycle to ensure that the Organization’s accounting processes are conducted timely, accurately, efficiently and consistently.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise Accounting Assistant and Payroll / Accounting Specialist; providing timely feedback and in-person supervision weekly.
  • Ensure proper training for Payroll and Accounting staff.
  • Review semi-monthly payroll for accuracy.
  • Provide back-up Payroll services as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounting functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of grant invoicing and reporting; follow up on outstanding A/R
  • Support Programs Department requests by providing financial reporting and budgeting assistance.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review trial balance for accuracy and completeness.
  • Record and posts journal entries for monthly financial activity.
  • Coordinate information and documents for annual audit process and 990.
  • Participate in hiring process and orientation of new Finance staff.
  • Serve on intra-agency committees when requested or representation is significant to the agency mission.
  • Provide front desk back up services as requested.
  • Attend mandatory staff and team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimal 2 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting is required.
  • Minimal 1 year of supervision or leading role experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize office equipment and computer software.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and the community.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
