Job Summary
Operation Light Shine is a non-profit organization whose main purpose is to support law enforcement in their positions to stop child exploitation and human trafficking. Through our INTERCEPT Task Force model, law enforcement benefit from the technology, resources, training and funding they need against these crime types.
The Accountant/CPA is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of Operation Light Shine. This position is critical in achieving our financial goals for law enforcement and Operation Light Shine’s mission. The accountant is charged with stewarding the fiduciary measures to ensure compliancy and nonprofit transparency.
Job Responsibilities
- Excellent financial judgment and business acumen
- Practical and commonsense skills to understand the needs of a nonprofit
- Critical thinker with the ability to make decisions based on reasonable and timely analysis
- Ability to understand and evaluate risks and risk mitigation strategies
- Ability to see big picture of organization
- Represent OLS in an accurate and professional manner.
- Works with the CEO, COO and Board of Directors on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization
- Assists in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
- Assists the Development Department with grant compliancy and grant financial documents
- Accounts Receivable/Payable
- Proficient in QuickBooks/Payroll
- Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy
- Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, monthly bank reconciliation and other financial analysis documentation on a monthly basis
- Prepares tax related documentation for internal, federal & state compliance
- Liaise with the different government entities in relation to compliance/regulatory requirements
- Assists in providing documentation for/with internal/external auditors
- Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization
- Coordinates with INTERCEPT affiliates for any accounting related activity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in suitable field of study from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years experience as a CPA
- 5-8 years of financial examination, public accounting or similar experience with specialization in the non-profit industry preferred
- Candidates must possess Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
