YNP Happy Hour: Stress-Reducing Strategies for Young Leaders

Young Nonprofit Professionals is a free virtual networking group comprised of diverse Middle Tennessee young professionals supporting or working in the nonprofit sector. Our objective is to provide an inclusive space where emerging leaders can share resources, encouragement, and learning opportunities.

Event Description:

Stress complaints are often the leading cause of absence in employees under 25 years old… and they are just starting their careers! Stress gets in the way of our patience and hinders our ability to look ahead. It plays a major influence on our mood, sense of well-being, behavior, and health, ultimately leading to burnout and employee turnover.  

If we want to grow in our careers, we must prioritize our mental health and develop strategies to manage stress beyond furthering our organizations' mission. Fortunately, with the right skills, it is possible to deal with stress healthily and, in many cases, even prevent stress entirely!

Join us for our November YNP session, presented by Day 7, and hear from Jenny Black (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & AAMFT Approved Supervisor at Come Alive Counseling). Jenny will lead us in a discussion on what causes burnout and how we can implement techniques to manage competing priorities, reduce stress, set boundaries with technology, and grow our careers while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

About the Speaker:

Jenny Black is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. In addition to training new therapists, she works with men and women who are dealing with depression, anxiety, spiritual issues, and transition of life issues. She specializes in writing, speaking, and facilitating groups on the topics of self-care and digital health.
