Job Summary

The Office of Family Safety (OFS) is hiring an Assistant Director of High-Risk Teams that will be responsible for providing coordination for teams that focus on Nashville’s multi-disciplinary response to interpersonal violence and high-risk case review.  These teams focus on interpersonal violence and issues of intimate partner abuse, familial violence, sexual assault, stalking, strangulation, human trafficking, and firearms dispossession. This position will also work on quality assurance initiatives to further OFS’s mission to ensure victim/survivor safety and offender accountability throughout all systems.  Finally, the position will support the Senior Director of Programs in the innovation of high-risk teamwork and systemic change.

Job Responsibilities

Multidisciplinary Teamwork & Quality Assurance:

  • Supervise staff members who coordinate high-risk multi-disciplinary case review teams and coordinate quality assurance for high-risk cases and the courts.
  • Coordinate the work, innovation, and progress of all multi-disciplinary high-risk case review teams and taskforces focused on interpersonal violence.
  • Coordinate and help facilitate quarterly half-day all-MDT meetings on interpersonal violence.
  • Coordinate bi-annual Interpersonal Violence Summit
  • Track initiatives/goals developed by MDTs and track progress toward their completion or implementation.
  • Collect, analyze, and present qualitative data on the work of all MDTs and high-risk trends office- and system-wide.
  • Maintains the logs of system-wide issues and concerns and uses them to identify training needs, trends, gaps, and larger-scale interventions.
  • Builds strong professional relationships between OFS and partner agencies.
  • Works with the Grants Manager and OFS Leadership to identify grant opportunities as it relates to high-risk response work and participates in grant writing and application.
  • Supports the Senior Director of Programs with ongoing development and innovation of high-risk teams and systemic change.

 Training & Education

  • Works with the Asst. Director of Education & Strategic Initiatives to create trainings to address QA concerns found in high-risk teamwork and QA data collection
  • Support with statewide Family Justice Center Conference
  • Develop and deliver training on high-risk indicators and response in coordination with training program
  • Develop and coordinate educational materials and videos on high-risk issues for OFS clients, partners, and the broader community.

Research & Writing

  • Research existing programs and national best practices for high-risk teams and topics
  • Author informative documents, reports, grant reports, and polices as needed and requested


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in fields related to IPV (social work, law, political science, criminal justice, international affairs, etc.) or equivalent experience of at least 7 years
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Highly advanced administrative skills with Microsoft programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Spark, Prezi).
  • Problem solver, highly efficient, and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working on interpersonal violence (domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, elder abuse, and stalking)
  • Experience working in or with both non-profits and the criminal justice system
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams/collaboratives
  • Experience providing staff supervision
  • Background check (completed upon offer)

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5+ years of MDT, macro level, and/or IPV work
  • 3+ years of supervision experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal violence, their intersections, and effective intervention strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in positive collaboration with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives
  • Demonstrated ability to enact systems change or develop innovative programming
  • Experience with programs that create compelling video or presentation materials.
  • Experience with data management and analytics, particularly Microsoft Access
  • Experience working under, writing, and reporting on grants
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English

Additional Information


Metro offers a generous core benefit package to eligible employees who are regularly and consistently working 20 or more hours per week.  Insurance and benefit coverage is effective the first of the month after the employee has worked 30 days.  Employees can change their benefits within 60 days of an eligible change in status or during Annual Enrollment.  Metro also offers optional benefits from which the employee may choose.
