Job Summary

This full time position involves managing a caseload of Youth and over Age 55 (SCSEP participants who are attempting to obtain training, further their education, and ultimately find employment.  A majority of these participants are engaged in paid work experience activities. Youth Career Specialist aids in completing additional CS duties that include determining eligibility of potential clients, completing paperwork on clients with extreme attention to detail and providing follow-up case management. This individual is responsible for providing intensive case management to eligible WIOA and SCSEP clients in their designated area. This performance based position hinges upon maintaining an adequate case load and the Career Specialist’s ability to assist clients in meeting their career and educational goals.

Job Responsibilities

A key component of this position involves the ability to utilize technology to accurately maintain client records and financial expenditures. Other duties include engaging in community outreach activities, with employers completing worksite agreements, continuing education on WIOA legislation and other additional requirements as requested by the Youth Career Services Manager. Travel is required and work base location will be determined once a candidate is identified.  Since this position has expanded duties from a regular Youth Career Specialist, promotional consideration will be given to current employees.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Social Sciences or similar discipline preferred.
  • Advanced computer competency/literacy skills are required.
  • Applicants must have the ability to quickly learn and train other staff in computer software applications and follow directions in completing Lead Youth Career Specialist requirements
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adapt in a rapidly changing atmosphere
  • Desire to make a positive impact in the workforce development of TN by working directly with local employers as well as diverse and low income populations
