Job Summary

 

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for all aspects of financial planning, including rolling forecast management and budget preparation as well as analysis of operating results, new business opportunities, and test programs. This role will also be responsible for supporting strategic and business planning processes including capital budgets and forecasting.

Job Responsibilities

1. Generate monthly forecasts based on an updated analysis of trends and expected changes to the business environment

2. Prepare, maintain and improve financial models relating to projected and actual operating results of all operating divisions based on analysis of trends and expected changes to the business environment.

3. Continually monitor business performance, identifying and analyzing variances to budgets and forecasts and provide management insight into trends, issues, and opportunities

4. Budget preparation, including budget preparation training, guidance and oversight to division heads, provide packets for senior staff, consolidate, verify that budget calculates properly and provide analysis of budget outputs including compliance with organizational goals and alignment with overall strategic plan

5. Monitor test programs to ensure all tests have a start, evaluation and end.

6. Evaluate significant business cases to ensure expected benefits are attained.

7. Evaluate expenses and identify cost savings opportunities, take opportunities to department heads and oversee implementation of identified opportunities

8. Work with Operations and other business partners to ensure accurate and timely completion of key operating metrics dashboard, update relevant metrics based on changes in the business and in alignment with the overall strategic plan.

9. Update long-term financial models and projections, including proforma analysis for new and store lease renewals.

10. Maintain general ledger system and budget system reporting updates.

11. Perform monthly and annual reporting to Goodwill Industries International.

12.Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance

Experience

  • Eight or more years of finance experience in a not-for-profit organization or 10 years combined experience in not-for-profit and retail organizations.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Able to interact with a wide variety of people ranging from our clients who have disabilities to agency board members and other community leaders
  • Able to earn and retain the respect and confidence of staff, president, Board of Directors and members of the community
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of creativity and ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to changes in priorities and business conditions
  • Comfortable working with sensitive data and able to maintain a high degree of discretion
  • Must understand general accounting functions
  • Advance knowledge of Excel and have the ability to learn new software as needed; experience with a budget software is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
