Job Summary

This position requires the employee to live on-campus and to establish Blue Monarch as “home.” As the Residential Life Assistant, you will be vital in supporting Blue Monarch’s mission to provide a safe and rich residential environment and therapeutic Christian community where the women and children we serve are able to break adverse cycles and rebuild their families.

This role has 5 primary functions.

  1. Transportation
  2. Drug, Alcohol, and Nicotine Testing
  3. Emergency Response
  4. Enforcing Rules and Discipline
  5. WINGS Community Support

This position works closely with all members of Blue Monarch’s staff. The Residential Life Assistant position requires a strong individual who can effectively enforce Blue Monarch’s rules and regulations and solve problems independently.  This position is primarily responsible for calmly and effectively responding to incidental emergencies or conflicts when the other staff members are not present.       

The schedule for this position includes:

  • Four nine-hour workdays including a one-hour lunch break
  • On-call availability two nights per week requiring but not limited to, night-time medication distribution, evening room/bed checks, and conflict, emergency, or crisis intervention as necessary
  • On-call availability every other weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning requiring but not limited to, medication distribution three times daily, grocery store transportation, church transportation, pass verification, special activity oversight, and conflict, emergency, or crisis intervention as necessary

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake with new residents
  • Conduct random room and house searches
  • Conduct random alcohol, drug, and nicotine testing
  • Record and file drug screens
  • Create, check, and enforce chore assignments for residents
  • Oversee resident medications three times daily
  • Participate in discharge process when necessary
  • Review residents thank you notes prior to mailing to ensure Blue Monarch’s standard of excellence and accuracy
  • Check mail daily at our physical location
  • Review resident grocery lists prior to shopping and verify grocery receipts upon completion to ensure adherence to our shopping policies
  • Manage the donation process including pickup, documentation, distribution, and storage
  • Provide transportation for residents including church attendance, recreational activities, grocery store trips, medical appointments, etc.
  • Facilitate weekend transportation for children visitation as arranged by the Director of Parenting and Children Services
  • Oversee resident schedules and appointments or volunteer activities after hours or on the weekend
  • Provide supervised visitation with non-custodial children as needed
  • Monitor departure and return times for offsite trips including resident passes and WINGS transportation
  • Collaborate with Blue Monarch Staff to enforce rules and handle disciplinary issues
  • Offer emotional support to women and children while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely and calm manner while providing proper transportation to appropriate medical professionals
  • Respond to conflicts in a timely and professional manner and notify the proper authorities if necessary

  • Has empathy and compassion for the population Blue Monarch serves
  • Possesses safe driving skills and is capable of operating all Blue Monarch vehicles
  • Is knowledgeable about Blue Monarch’s rules and regulations
  • Is comfortable enforcing Blue Monarch’s rules and regulations
  • Is capable of maintaining appropriate boundaries with residents while also serving them with a loving heart
  • Is effective as a leader and comfortable taking an authoritative position with residents
  • Is knowledgeable about the population Blue Monarch serves and preferably has experience working with the same population

Benefits

Compensation for this position includes an annual salary, paid time off in accordance with our employee policy, on-site housing, water utility, and a monthly supplemental stipend for insurance.  Electric, propane, and internet services are the responsibility of the employee.
