Job Summary

Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee is searching for our next Program Specialist! This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a creative, supportive, and dynamic team, but also enjoys working independently and managing projects. Girl Scouts relies heavily on part-time staff and volunteers, and this position focuses on building both programming and relationships to ensure seamless program delivery and meet the needs of our membership. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, organizes, and delivers programming that meets the needs and interests of our membership which includes: curriculum development, supply ordering and management, and communication with volunteers and staff.
  • Works cross-departmentally to understand the needs of specific areas and then tailors programming to those needs.
  • Manages part-time staff as required including: payroll, scheduling, and performance review.
  • Supports volunteers and staff in program creation; monitors volunteer-run programming for quality and compliance with GSUSA standards.
  • Ensures our ability to meet member recruitment and retention goals as outlined in our plan of work through the delivery of high-quality council events, programs, opportunities, and materials.
  • Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates innovative new ways to increase program activities for our diverse population of girls.
  • Compiles a list of potential partners. Initiates, cultivates, and maintains relationships with those partners to offer programming for GSMIDTN members.
  • Helps position Girl Scouting as a key community partner and expert in addressing girls’ issues.
  • Works in partnership with membership and communications teams to effectively communicate program offerings.
  • Maintains grant requirements and reporting for current grants and coordinates with Fund Development to search for potential funding sources.
  • Models behavior consistent with the purpose, values, and mission of Girl Scouts of the USA and the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities and performs other duties as delegated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred
    A background in youth development is preferred
  • Knowledge or experience in Girl Scouts or other youth programs is preferred
  • Experience in program delivery or development is required
  • Creative, outgoing, motivated, and able to deliver quality programs.
  • Ability to see projects through from conception to completion.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Goal-oriented, detail-oriented, energetic, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
  • Able to coordinate multiple projects at one time for large groups of 50 or more.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Able to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including travel throughout our 39-county service area.
