Job Summary

 

To support the Youth Services Coordinator through the recruitment, interviewing and placement process of interns during the summer program. The Program Assistant will have the opportunity to prepare and support the high school internship program. Initially they will aid in the recruitment, interviewing and placement process. Afterward, they will provide direct support mentoring and training the interns.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interview prospective interns and work with the Youth Services Coordinator to determine final placements.
  • Lead virtual and in-person outreach sessions and office hours to help candidates apply for internships.
  • Participate in the interview process for Summer Employment Coaches.
  • Aid in planning Employment Coach and Intern Training Weeks.
  • Create and revise curriculum materials and activities.
  • Lead and facilitate various trainings, meetings and orientations.
  • Serve as liaison and provide support between interns and their respective employers.
  • Communicate and provide feedback on a regular basis to interns in support of their development.
  • Technical skills and attention to detail to ensure proper administration of timekeeping and other records.
  • Have knowledge and technical savvy to create, operate, and utilize video conferencing software.
  • Need to have strong technical skills to operate appropriate software for the program.
  • High technical competency with Microsoft and/or Google Suite technology to create, generate and assist with weekly reports and ad-hoc projects.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and supporters.
  • Ability to pass a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation background check.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Two or more years of classroom teaching experience.

Experience

  • High Proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google Suite technology and video conferencing software.
  • Experience training and mentoring youth.
  • Experience in lesson planning, differentiation and/or curriculum development.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Self-motivated and independent worker.
  • Ability to problem solve and approach challenges quickly and creatively.
  • Flexible and able to adjust quickly to change.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Tennessee teaching license preferred but not required.
  • Driving License required.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

  • Experience working with(in) schools and/or community-based youth programs
  • Training or relevant experience in Social and Emotional Learning and/or Restorative Justice best practices.
  • Experience utilizing an applicant database.
