Girls Write Nashville

Program/Administrative Coordinator & Teaching Artist

Girls Write Nashville

Apply

Job Summary

The Program & Administrative Coordinator will report to the Executive Artistic Director and handle day-to-day administration of Girls Write Nashville programs, as well as day-to-day support for a variety of aspects of nonprofit operations including donor data management and fundraising events.

An ideal candidate will also have the experience and willingness to serve as a teaching artist in one or more of our programs: our songwriting and community-focused Writers Guilds in Title I schools, online Writers Guilds, and our bilingual Youth Voice Column in partnership with The Contributor. (Girls Write Nashville is an artist and educator-led organization, and our Executive Director also teaches within our programs.)

As a young nonprofit advancing from a start-up phase to an adolescent nonprofit phase, a focus of this role will be in working with the Executive Director, Teaching Artists, and the Board of Directors to help create and implement new systems in order to optimize organizational operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for a creative, emotionally intelligent, highly organized, financially-literate self-starter with a passion for the arts, equity in arts access, social emotional learning, and youth empowerment. A highly successful candidate will have the rare opportunity in the nonprofit industry to grow and advance in their role along with the organization and become a true organization stakeholder.

About Girls Write Nashville

Girls Write Nashville is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers expression through songwriting, production, mentorship and creative community building for teen artists in Nashville, TN. We are an educational program aligned with the standards of Creative Youth Development (CYD), Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) and and are a “circle practice” aligned with MNPS Social Emotional Learning foundations, working to build a safe and inclusive path to cultural participation for youth artists in our community.

Founded in 2016 as a one-time community arts project funded by a Metro Arts micro-grant, co-founders continued the program as a nonprofit after the initial participants requested it continue. The young organization has since been featured on NBC’s Today Show and NPR’s Here & Now specifically for their virtual pandemic-era programming. Currently we operate several after-school programs in MNPS Title I middle schools, our All City Mentorship program (which records an annual compilation album), a Youth Voice Column in partnership with The Contributor, online Writers Guilds, and mission-centric workshops partnered with other organizations. We hosted our first annual benefit concert in 2021 in partnership with Lightning100 featuring Brittany Howard and Margo Price alongside two of our youth artists.
