Job Summary

TIRRC seeks a talented legal professional to provide support and direct legal services for the organization’s immigration attorney, DOJ representatives, and community members at TIRRC’s headquarters in Nashville.

Job Responsibilities

Legal Services Support

  • Provide support to the Legal Services Manager and services for program applicants;
  • Assist with follow-up appointments with clients to complete necessary forms and applications;
  • Prepare applications, including but not limited to naturalization applications, family petitions, and waivers;
  • Lead and support volunteers in preparation of applications, especially at workshops;
  • Assist with collection of supporting documentation;
  • Assist with managing removal caseload;
  • Document communications and filings in case management system;
  • Provide follow-up communication regarding correspondence from relevant agencies;
  • Communicate with USCIS and other relevant agencies;
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times;
  • Manage rapid response phone line with other colleagues;
  • Other legal services support as assigned.

Organizational Support​​​​​​​

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development;
  • Ensure all data is maintained in the organizational database.

Qualifications

  • Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience with social justice;
  • Experience as a paralegal, providing legal services and/or working in a legal setting;
  • Experience working in immigrant communities preferred;
  • Eligibility for DOJ accreditation preferred (and not be precluded from qualifying)
  • Experience with immigration software preferred;
  • Ability to be very organized, work on deadlines, and juggle multiple priorities;
  • Ability to work sensitively with clients who have diverse personalities, lifestyles, cultures, and faiths;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends;
  • Fluency in English required and another language preferred;
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Benefits

Salary Range: $40,000-42,000
Benefits: Full-time TIRRC employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of the medical employee premium covered by TIRRC, participate in a 401K retirement plan, and receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program. In addition, TIRRC provides paid leave including up to 15 vacation days, 13 paid holidays, and 3 weeks paid sick leave in an employee’s first year and 6 weeks of paid parental leave.
