Job Summary

This full-time position will manage the office and oversee the health and well-being of the various animals residing on the property located in Christiana, TN. The Gentle Barn Manager- Tennessee will manage staff, oversee all office functions, manage social media, host groups and private tours, supervise volunteers, as well as other duties as assigned. Must live on property.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise staff and ensure they are following procedures and maintaining job duties and responsibilities
  • Monitor the health and well-being of animals daily
  • Work with newly rescued animals with trauma as needed
  • Administer supplements as needed
  • Supervise all animal practitioners as needed (ferriers, chiropractors, massage therapists, and ultrasound technicians)
  • Oversee and perform routine property maintenance, maintenance for all vehicles and equipment, and special projects as they arise, such as painting, building, trimming, or repairs
  • Supervise volunteers when they are with the animals as needed
  • Supervise Sunday set-up and tear down
  • Keep tools, inventory of supplies for animals, equipment, and property, and other equipment secure and in good working order
  • Handle routine maintenance for all of the vehicles and equipment on the property
  • Miscellaneous tasks as needed or requested
  • Light office duties
  • Host groups and private tours
  • Participate in public speaking events as needed
  • Live on The Gentle Barn property for after-hours care and emergencies as needed

Qualifications

  • Some college strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience and/or training in a management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions without oversight or guidance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven skills in interfacing with a wide range of professionals
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Must be a proactive problem solver
  • Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to exemplify both discretion and confidentiality
  • Must be highly trainable and eager to learn
  • Must be comfortable around large animals
  • Must be able to lift over 75 lbs. daily
  • Must be available to work varying hours based on the needs of the business
  • Gentle and kind person who cares deeply for animals
  • Strong belief that all animals should be treated with compassion and respect
