Job Summary

Dismas House of Nashville, a transitional living community for men transitioning back to the community directly from TN prisons and jails, is looking for resident support specialists to live on-site at the Dismas House campus at 2424 Charlotte Ave. The resident support specialist(s) will live at Dismas free of charge (including food and utilities) with a stipend of $1300 per month in exchange for being “on duty” 21 hours per week and being “on-call” 30 hours a week alternating some nights, weekends and holidays with another resident support specialist.

The ideal candidate is a male graduate student studying divinity, social work, criminal justice or a related field or has experience working with this population or other traditionally neglected groups. In general, Resident Support Specialists will support the residents as they adjust to reentry by assisting in activities and tasks that may include providing transportation, facilitating day-time and evening programming, supporting volunteers, hosting community dinners, mentoring, administrative tasks or simply providing a supportive presence.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and must own a car, safe driving record and have a valid driver’s license.

Job Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Provide a supportive presence during late- and over-night hours. Treat program participants with dignity and respect while also holding them accountable to the ideals and mission of the Dismas program.
•    Conduct curfew checks and assist in maintaining a sober living environment.
•    Performs other duties as assigned and needed.
•    Ensure resident attendance at daytime and evening programming and community dinners.
•    Maintain program calendar and assist in schedule and facilitation of daytime and evening program providers.
•    Attend volunteer community dinners and support volunteer hosts M-Th as needed.
•    Assist in the procurement of groceries.
•    Transport residents as scheduled.
•    Main point of contact on nights and weekends. Alternating.
•    Assist in facilities maintenance.
•    Performs other duties as assigned and needed.

Qualifications

Benefits

•    Live-In Support Staff members live for free, including food at Dismas House and receive compensation of $1300.00 per month without benefits.
