We are dedicated to fostering literacy and educational development in our community. Our program aims to support students in improving their reading and writing skills through engaging and interactive activities. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Literacy Facilitator to join our team.
Job Responsibilities
The Literacy Facilitator will lead our after-school program, working with students to enhance their literacy skills. This role requires a dynamic individual who can create a positive learning environment, facilitate engaging literacy activities, and inspire a love for reading and writing. Additionally, the Literacy Facilitator will support our Teen Author Workshop, helping young writers develop their skills and creativity.
- Lead and manage the literacy program 4 to 5 days a week.
- Develop and implement engaging literacy activities and lesson plans.
- Assist students in improving their reading and writing skills.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development training to stay current with educational best practices.
- Assist with publication processing, including the creation and distribution of educational materials.
- Organize and supervise field trips related to literacy and educational enrichment.
- Support the Teen Author Workshop by guiding young writers in developing their skills and creativity.
- Collaborate with other program staff and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Monitor and report on student progress and program effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and program updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field, or currently working towards one.
- Experience in teaching or facilitating literacy programs, with a focus on school-aged children.
- Strong understanding of literacy development, and instructional strategies, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive, engaging learning environment, with strong organizational skills and a commitment to professional development.
