Job Summary

The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, identifying, cultivating, and soliciting government, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities to support the Andrew Jackson Foundation’s (AJF) mission and fundraising goals.

Job Responsibilities

Grant Creation and Management

    • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Advancement (SVP) and Vice President of Development (VP Dev) to develop, map, and implement an annual grant strategy that will support the AJF’s philanthropic priorities.
    • Develop content for grant proposals based on program and institutional goals.
    • Develop and maintain an annual grant calendar that monitors application and reporting deadlines, project deliverables, milestones, and correspondence
    • Attain a high-level knowledge and proficiency with the AJF’s Tessitura CRM database and work in tandem with the Development Information Manager to adhere to best practices and protocols on tracking metrics, gift entry, and analytics.
    • Lead and/or direct grant writing projects working with appropriate staff and areas of need.
    • Cultivate foundation and community relationships by consistently engaging key grant-making staff and leadership.
    • Maintain close focus on budget and expenses to ensure institutional financial success.

Qualifications

  • Passion for history and the Andrew Jackson Foundation’s mission to preserve, educate, and inspire
  • Minimum five (5) years grant writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of applicable experience)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence varied audiences
  • Knowledge of Tessitura CRM highly preferred but not required
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate enduring stakeholder relationships and produce quality outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively as independent contributor or as part of a team
  • Passion for collaboration and ability to work with other staff and departments to achieve a shared vision
  • Commitment to providing elite customer service, building relationships, and demonstrating reliability
  • Professionalism and ability to positively represent the AJF in the community
  • High character with ability to promote positive morale and build strong internal culture
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to effectively utilize Word, Excel, desktop publishing, and presentation software
