Job Summary
Nashville CARES is a leading non-profit agency in Middle Tennessee seeking an Grants and Contract Specialist who is looking to make an impact in the community.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide overall financial, grant compliance and project management support for programs funded through various foundation, federal, state and local sources, including collaboration with case management on spending and budget revisions
- Assist in preparing budgets for new grants, renewals and revisions
- Manage accounting processes and grant compliance
- Compile data to analyze appropriate spending patterns for all grant funding
- Prepare monthly grant invoices
- Perform recurring month-end closing entries and transaction research
- Assist in quarterly and interim financial reports
- Create and maintain filing system for all foundation, local, state and federal grants
- Utilize judgement and interpretation of general guidelines when making decisions, inform management of actions and suggests future changes to increase efficiencies
- Process Financial Assistance checks (FRCs) and IAP checks
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable Clerk
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years’ professional experience or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained
- Minimum two years of administrative/budgeting experience
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices required
- Professional proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Team oriented with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines while using independent judgment
- Good with numbers and figures, analytical acumen and attention to detail
- Automobile liability insurance and satisfactory DMV record
Preferred Qualifications
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Experience with MIP software
