The Our Kids Center is a national leader in the implementation of evidence-based expert forensic medical evaluations and crisis counseling to children and families affected by child sexual abuse. In addition, Our Kids conducts research, participates on state and national advisory boards, and presents at national conferences.
Created in 1987 as a non-profit, Our Kids is the only clinic of its kind in Middle Tennessee. We evaluate approximately 750 children annually. Our multidiscipline Clinical Staff share on-call coverage daily, serving 47 counties in middle Tennessee.

Job Responsibilities
The Forensic Social Worker II would be part of a multidisciplinary team working during business hours as well as having on-call responsibilities after hours. A successful candidate would possess strong clinical skills, be able to communicate well and provide accurate documentation. The Forensic Social Worker II will be responsible for a) assisting triage decisions when necessary; b) collecting medical histories from caregivers and children who present with sexual abuse concerns; c) preparing children and adolescents for medical exams; d) assisting the medical provider during the exam when necessary; e) providing crisis intervention; f) conducting psychosocial evaluations; g) making recommendations related to evaluations; h) collaborating with law enforcement, community partners and Child Protective Services personnel with respect to sexual abuse investigations; i) writing reports; and j) providing court testimony. Responsibilities and interactions will be adapted to meet the specific developmental and cultural needs of each child and family as well as identify/accommodate any special needs the child/family may have.
The ideal Our Kids Forensic Social Work candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills, works well in a multidisciplinary team, works independently, and is dependable and flexible.
The Forensic Social Worker II position includes participation in the development and delivery of training and education on topics related to child sexual abuse to physicians, nurses, investigators, and the lay community; participating and/or conducting research.
As a successful candidate, this person would be an employee of Nashville General Hospital and, therefore must be up to date on all vaccinations. If the candidate is not properly vaccinated, required vaccination can be provided by Nashville General Hospital.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Two to five years of experience in interviewing or working with children in the field of child abuse
- Desire to work with children and families who have experienced trauma
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Teaching and/or public speaking experience
- Spanish speaking
