Job Summary
The Our Kids Center specializes in medical and psychosocial evaluations of children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. The Our Kids Center seeks applications for a full-time Forensic Social Worker II position. A successful candidate will be a Hospital Authority employee assigned to the Our Kids Center.
Job Responsibilities
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will be responsible for a) collecting medical histories from caregivers and children who present with sexual abuse concerns; b) preparing children and adolescents for medical exams; c) assisting the medical provider during the exam when necessary; d) providing crisis intervention; e) conducting psychosocial evaluations; f) making recommendations related to evaluations; g) collaborating with law enforcement, community partners and Child Protective Services personnel with respect to sexual abuse investigations; h) writing reports; and i) providing court testimony. Responsibilities and interactions will be adapted to meet the specific developmental and cultural needs of each child and family as well as identify/accommodate any special needs the child/family may have. The ideal Our Kids Forensic Social Work candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills, works well in a multidisciplinary team, works independently, is dependable and flexible.
This position requires availability for on-call patient care activities during non-clinic hours; participation in providing training and education on topics related to child sexual abuse to physicians, nurses, investigators and the lay community; participating and/or conducting research.
Start date is July 1, 2023
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Master’s Degree in Social Work
2) Eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
3) One year of experience of interviewing or working with children in the field of child abuse
4) Desire to work with children and families who have experienced trauma
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Licensed Clinical Social Worker
2) Teaching and/or public speaking experience
3) Spanish speaking
