Job Summary

Executive Director of Homework Hotline, Inc.

 

Location:  Nashville, TN.  (Hybrid)

Make a difference in the lives of struggling students!  Homework Hotline provides free tutoring by phone and/or electronic communications to students from across Tennessee.

 

The Executive Director, under the direction of the Homework Hotline Board of Directors, is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and supervising Homework Hotline.

Job Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan and objectives in collaboration with the Homework Hotline board of directors
  • Lead a teaching staff of 40 to 60 educators. Assist Program Manager (PM) with recruiting, training, scheduling, management, and evaluation of staff
  • Oversee two multi-line call centers that operates afternoon and evening hours
  • Raise a budget of more than $500,000 per year from governments, one-on-one fundraising, grant writing, and school districts
  • Support PM to provide the call centers with necessary resources
  • Serve as liaison between Homework Hotline and participating school systems and donors
  • Maintain and update a database; analyze and report on collected data. Maintain and regularly report programmatic data to school districts, board, media, and donors
  • Present to partnering school districts at the school board and district leadership levels
  • Secure and maintain vendor partnerships and sponsors
  • Ensure that all fundraising and activities conform to federal, state and local regulations and that proper reporting is made to donors or grant makers
  • In coordination with the bookkeeper, maintain financial records, pay invoices, prepare the annual budget, audit, tax returns, and payroll
  • Promote Homework Hotline in the community and schools, especially in areas that serve at-risk children and families
  • Prepare progress and financial reports and materials for Hotline Board and committee meetings
  • Create and implement a donor communication plan

 

The Homework Hotline director shall not have voting rights on the Board of Directors, but shall serve as an administrative officer of the board. The director shall report to the board as to the programmatic and financial activities, and on progress on objectives.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree in business, non-profit leadership, education, or other related field required.

Experience: three years of related experience preferred.

 

SKILLS:

  • Highly developed organizational and planning skills
  • Strong written communication skills, both technical and persuasive
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Creation and managing budgets
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team of educators, students, professionals, and other
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks a plus
  • Skilled in database management
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms
  • Experience in sales or fundraising
  • Hiring priority is given to candidates with a fluent second language
  • The ability to work remotely when necessary
  • Willingness to travel to visit donors, partner counties, satellite location.
