Job Summary
The Director of Development role is a full-time position that helps manage and grow critical corporate and individual relationships with the goal of developing strong corporate funding and employee engagement. This position will work to generate funding for Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee (BGCMT) programs and engage new or emerging partners (as identified by the Board, CEO, CDO, etc.) in volunteerism, fundraising events, program support, and employee giving. The Director of Development is a skilled relationship builder and steward of corporate and individual partnerships and has experience securing both. The ideal candidate will be deeply engaged in the community.
The Director of Development is an experienced, take charge professional with the ability to move community leaders, and groups and individuals to support BGCMT as well as able to manage event logistics (volunteer and special events) simultaneously, in support of the organization in a busy, fast-paced environment. They must be able to anticipate committee and event needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. They should have a love for fundraising and event management. They must provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, be able to build relationships internally and externally, and be committed to Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, cultivate, and solicit both emerging and established Corporate Partners and Individuals, as identified with Senior Leadership.
- Works closely with President/CEO and CDO to ensure a comprehensive corporate development strategy is implemented to achieve superior customer service while exceeding funding goals.
- Promotes employee engagement with both Corporate and Individual Partners through volunteerism, special events, and employee giving.
- Actively engages with and manages a portfolio of prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, closing of gifts, and stewardship.
- Create and deliver funding/sponsorship proposals and event solicitations.
- Develop and deliver presentations to companies when appropriate.
- Work with resource development team to promote/deliver special events and generate program funding.
Lead planning and logistics for the Great Futures Gala and Ingram Cup Golf Tournament.
- Manage records and information relating to development and cultivation/solicitation activity.
- Steward corporate and individual donor relationships and gifts generated, ensuring fulfillment of funding
objectives and sponsor benefits.
- Knowledge and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Special assignments and projects as directed by CDO.
- Recruit, train, and direct committee members, interns, and volunteers to support corporate and special events goals.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-7 years of corporate fundraising, business development, or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to successfully cultivate and solicit corporate gifts.
- Track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Possess exceptional relationship building and influencing skills, as well as strong communications skills.
- Committed to quality and integrity and the ability to work with cross-functional teams and to foster
teamwork.
- Strong commitment to team and mission.
- Ability to prioritize, manage and work on multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Canva a plus
- Experience using Monday.com a plus.
- Donor database experience, preferably Salesforce, a plus.
- Valid State Driver’s License and must pass pre-employment background check and physical
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to establish and monitor timelines and resources needed to achieve goals/projects

- Ability to travel for work and be available for some nights and weekends
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, and depth perception.
- Local traveling, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions and occasional
environmental hazards.
- The noise level in the work environment is minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environment
issues, due to work is conducted in an Office setting indoors.
- Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.
- The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
